Model Test Re-evaluation — Low-Friction Coating Benefits
Re-evaluation of existing model test results to quantify the performance benefits of low-friction hull coatings — for RightShip and EEXI compliance.
The objective is to assess how coating-related resistance reduction can positively influence vessel efficiency indicators, including RightShip performance metrics and EEXI compliance. Accurately capturing the hydrodynamic benefit of low-friction coatings within regulatory and commercial efficiency assessments remains a key challenge — existing model test data must be carefully re-assessed to ensure that coating improvements are properly reflected in vessel efficiency calculations.
Scope of Work
Coordinated and supervised multiple critical mechanical and marine systems refurbishment activities, including:
- Review and re-evaluation of model test data
- Hydrodynamic performance assessment
- Methodology development
- Average Hull Roughness Measurements
- RightShip rating improvement analysis
- EEXI compliance assessment
Our Approach
HYDRUS provided technical support through the review and re-evaluation of model test data, hydrodynamic performance assessment, methodology development and execution of Average Hull Roughness Measurements — supporting better RightShip ratings, improved EEXI performance and more informed retrofit decisions.
