4× 57k DWT Bulk Carriers — BWTS Afloat Turnkey Project
Successfully executed turnkey BWTS retrofit projects onboard four 57k DWT bulk carriers under afloat installation conditions. HYDRUS managed the full project lifecycle, from pre-engineering attendance and onboarding inspections to commissioning and classification verification — ensuring timely execution with minimum operational disruption.
Executing BWTS retrofits afloat across four operational 57k DWT bulk carriers required careful coordination of engineering, logistics, riding teams, makers, Class and vessel schedules. The challenge was to complete installation, testing and verification with tight timelines while maintaining vessel readiness and full compliance with IMO BWTS requirements.
Scope of Work
Coordinated and supervised multiple critical mechanical and marine systems refurbishment activities, including:
- Pre-engineering attendance and onboarding inspections
- Procurement and coordination of Owner-supplied items
- Logistics and forwarding across all four vessels
- Mobilization of multi-disciplinary riding teams (piping, electricians, supervisors)
- Electrical materials, steel structures and foundations supply
- Piping materials, cabling works and installation consumables
- Technical coordination with makers, Class and subcontractors
- Continuous follow-up through commissioning and verification onboard all four vessels
Our Approach
HYDRUS managed the entire turnkey project lifecycle — pre-engineering attendance, onboarding inspections, procurement and coordination of Owner-supplied items, logistics and forwarding, riding-team mobilization, and technical coordination with makers, Class and subcontractors — following up through commissioning and verification onboard all four vessels. The project demonstrates HYDRUS' capability to deliver complex turnkey retrofit programs under challenging afloat conditions; successful commissioning across the fleet was achieved with minimum operational disruption and full compliance with applicable IMO BWTS requirements.
